Raging Waters

Raging Waters in San Dimas, California, is one of the largest water amusement parks in the country. In operation since 1983, the park provides family entertainment primarily to people living in the Southern California communities of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.

In May 1991, the park was acquired by TGV and Southbrook Corporation in a $16 million LBO transaction. Key factors were the large size of the local market, the opportunity to increase market penetration, the barriers to entry for new competitors, and the operating experience of the principals of Southbrook Corporation. The business was sold in April 1999 to a strategic acquirer for approximately $27 million.
